The lighting of the lamp ceremony was graced by the presence of Mr. Murali Krishnamurthy, CEO of Sankara Eye Hospitals, USA, who did the honor of inaugurating the hospital. He was accompanied by the esteemed Board of Trustees of Sankara, who have been unwavering in their commitment to improving eye care accessibility in underprivileged regions.The Netaji Eye Hospital, now a 250-bedded facility, stands as a beacon of hope for countless individuals who would otherwise face barriers to quality eye care.

It offers free eye surgeries to those in need and is currently performing 7,000 free surgeries annually. With the completion of the renovation, the hospital aims to increase its annual surgeries to an impressive 17,000 in the fiscal year 2023-24.Sankara Eye Hospitals' financial support has been instrumental in the hospital's transformation.

This support has allowed for the acquisition of crucial infrastructure, including transformers and generators to ensure uninterrupted power supply, a thorough revamping of the hospital's interiors with fresh painting and tiling work, the addition of an in-house laundry facility, new beds for in-patients, and the procurement of cutting-edge machinery required for optometry services. The hospital now also boasts a dedicated section for paid patients, expanding its reach and ensuring sustainability.
