Anupama Venkatesh

The Sankara Eye Foundation family deeply mourns the loss of Anupama Venkatesh, our star volunteer from Southern California. Anu, as she was fondly called, was a beacon of hope and light to everyone who knew her. She was a part of SEF, USA’s Southern California team, but volunteers across the country had the honor of working with her.

When You Are Down, Lift Someone Up!

Anu’s loss is deeply personal to thousands of people. She dedicated her life, literally, to the very last day – thinking of, talking about, and volunteering for Sankara Eye Foundation, USA, which showed her grit, determination, and fighting spirit in every way. Cancer did not know who it was against! Anu volunteered for many causes, whether it was restoring vision, donating food, or providing education – she was at the forefront of it all. She has left a remarkable impact on this world, inspired all of us, and left a powerful legacy.

We, the SEF family, are unable to find words to describe what Anu was to us, to the world, and to her family. We pray for a beautiful onward journey for Anu, and courage and strength to her lovely daughter, Akshaya, and loving husband Venkatesh ji, who stood like a pillar of strength for Anu. Salute to the family.

Anu will be remembered for many things - whether it be the most loving daughter, mother, and wife, or the mark she left in her profession as a CPA, the volunteer work she did for SEF, or her community involvement in various causes, including distributing food and clothes, educating children, and organizing fundraising events. But most of all, Anu will be remembered for her kindness, selflessness, love, and light. Anu lives on in the hearts of all whom she met and touched through the powerful legacy she leaves behind. Om Shanti 🙏
