SEH, Guntur Inaugurated on November 9

The Sankara Eye Hospital, Guntur (Major Expansion), the flagship hospital of the Sankara Eye Foundation, USA, was inaugurated on November 9 by Shri N Chandrababu Naidu, the Honorable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, in the presence of His Holiness the Kanchi Sankaracharya Vijayendra Saraswati and other eminent personalities.

At the inauguration, Dr. R.V.Ramani, Founder and Managing Trustee of the Sankara Eye Foundation, rededicated the brand new super-specialty hospital to the people of Andhra Pradesh. “This is the largest eye hospital here in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Thanks to Sankara Eye Foundation, USA, and TANA, we have now extended the original hospital to a beautiful super-specialty hospital, which will perform 60,000 free surgeries every year. And in order to make it happen, we have built a truly world-class super specialty hospital, he said.

But it is not the equipment or the brick-and-mortar infrastructure, Dr. Ramani emphasized. “It's the whole team of doctors and staff. SEF also trains rural girls from the surrounding villages as vision technicians, who are then employed in the hospitals. “At Sankara, we pursue excellence with ethical service”, he said.
